I like to tell my clients who are considering redesigning that “IF IT AIN’T BROKE, DON’T FIX IT”.
There are however certain things to look out for that indicate that it may be time to redesign. Some of these signs are:
- Lack of responsiveness.
In the past, you only had to worry about how your site looked on a computer screen. However, with the plethora of mobile devices that can access the web nowadays, you need to make sure your site’s design is responsive to any platform – from a desktop PC to a smartphone.
If your site is annoying to navigate on smaller devices, it’s time for a redesign.
- Outdated information.
Websites need more than just correct information to gain new visitors; they need regular action. If you don’t update your site as often as you know you should, a website redesign provides the perfect opportunity to remedy the problem.
- Long load times.
A website that takes too long to load is a turnoff, especially with the smartphone crowd. It shouldn’t take more than five seconds for your site to load.
- Visitor loss.
If you’ve noticed that visitors never navigate past your home page, or if they’re declining in numbers, it’s time revamp your site’s content. This is particularly true if your site holds no SEO clout.
